Montana Upland Bird Hunts

From pheasants and Hungarian partridges to grouse and waterfowl, Mark Young Outfitters delivers some of the most diverse and rewarding upland hunting in Montana. Each season brings new challenges and opportunities across our scenic landscapes — from the rolling fields and creek bottoms of our Augusta ranch to the open prairies and grain lands of our premiere leases near Conrad, Montana. These properties are carefully managed to provide ideal upland habitat and healthy bird populations throughout the season.

Our hunts combine tradition, stewardship, and exceptional hospitality. Whether you’re following a well-trained bird dog through tall grass or watching a covey flush over golden fields at sunrise, every day offers a true Montana hunting experience. Hunters can choose between guided hunts, led by seasoned professionals and their pointing Labradors, or DIY (Do-It-Yourself) hunts for those who prefer to bring their own dogs and explore independently. Both options promise an unforgettable adventure across thousands of acres of private ranchland and leased territory.

Pheasant Hunting

Pheasant Hunting

Our pheasant hunts take place on managed private properties that offer ideal cover, crop fields, and shelterbelts for wild birds. In addition to pheasant, hunters often encounter Hungarian partridge and grouse throughout the season.

Guided hunts are led by our expert upland guides
Chase and Lowell, accompanied by their skilled pointing Labradors Nelli and Knox. Each guide can accommodate up to four clients per day. Hunters who prefer to bring their own dogs are welcome on DIY hunts.

Guided Pheasant Hunts

We offer flexible full-day and half-day guided options for individuals and groups.

Each guide can accommodate up to four hunters, with group discounts for parties of three to four.

DIY (Do-It-Yourself) Pheasant Hunts

For experienced hunters looking for independence, our DIY pheasant hunts provide access to productive private land with open fields, brushy draws, and creek bottoms. Bring your own trained bird dog and enjoy Montana’s natural upland hunting at your own pace.

Waterfowl Hunting

Waterfowl Hunting

Our waterfowl hunts take place across the ponds, creeks, and grain fields of our Augusta ranch and surrounding properties, providing excellent opportunities for ducks and geese throughout the migration season. The area’s natural waterways and feeding grounds attract strong bird numbers, offering consistent shooting and scenic hunting conditions.

Guided hunts are led by our experienced waterfowl guides, who understand local flight patterns, blinds, and decoy setups that bring birds within range. Each guide can accommodate up to four hunters per day, ensuring a safe, productive, and enjoyable experience. For independent hunters, DIY waterfowl hunts are also available, allowing you to explore our ranchlands and set up on your own for a true Montana field experience.

Guided Waterfowl Hunts

Our Augusta ranch and surrounding waterways offer excellent opportunities for ducks and geese, depending on the season and migration patterns. With multiple ponds, creeks, and grain fields, the area provides consistent waterfowl action for hunters of all experience levels.

DIY (Do-It-Yourself) Pheasant Hunts

Enjoy a do-it-yourself waterfowl experience with full access to select hunting areas on the ranch. Navigate our waterways and field edges at your own pace while taking in the scenery of Montana’s Rocky Mountain Front.
