Our Legacy of Hunting Excellence
Mark Young Outfitters LLC was established in 1987 by Mark and Julie Young, third-generation owners and operators of the Flying Shit House Ranch. For over three decades, our family has shared Montana’s incredible hunting experience with sportsmen from across the country. We specialize in trophy whitetail hunts along with mule deer and antelope, offering fully guided hunts on private land throughout the Augusta area.
Augusta’s diverse terrain—creek bottoms, rolling fields, and river breaks—supports a strong population of whitetail and mule deer, ensuring high-quality hunts year after year.
Archery Hunts — $6,000
Most of our Montana archery hunts take place in tree stands along the edges of fields and river bottoms, offering excellent visibility and opportunities for close-range shots. These private whitetail zones are archery-only, keeping pressure low and deer patterns consistent. During Montana’s archery season (September through early October), bucks are relaxed and follow predictable feeding patterns near barley and alfalfa fields.
Archers may also hunt during the general season, when the rut typically peaks in late November and activity increases dramatically. Many hunters choose this period for a chance at a trophy Montana whitetail or mule deer with a bow.
On-Site Lodging: Included in the price.
Meals: Guests have private kitchens or can dine at nearby restaurants. During your hunt, we hope to feed you at least one home cooked meal.
Preparation: Hunters are expected to arrive well prepared with appropriate gear and clothing.
Rifle Hunts — $6,000
Rifle hunting begins in mid-October and continues through November during Montana’s general season. This is prime time for both whitetail and mule deer, especially as the rut intensifies in late November. Our rifle hunts focus on spot-and-stalk and glassing from bluffs overlooking creeks, river bottoms, and open farmland.
To maintain trophy quality, all deer harvested must be
at least 4.5 years old. A $500 fee will apply to any immature deer harvested. Our guides are available during each hunt to assist with age determination and trophy selection, helping ensure that every harvest meets our management goals.
On-Site Lodging: Included in the price.
Meals: Not provided. Private kitchen or local dining available.
Interested in hunting antelope as well? If yes, we will add an additional fee of $1000 plus a kill fee of $1000 added to your total.
Navigation & Preparation
We strongly recommend downloading the OnX Hunt app (onxmaps.com) before arrival. This tool allows hunters to easily navigate our private properties and identify boundaries throughout the ranch and leased areas north of Augusta known for trophy mule deer.

Processing Your Harvest
There is currently no wild game processor in Augusta. Processing is done in Lincoln, Great Falls, or Helena, and the hunter is responsible for all processing costs (approximately $160). Our guides can assist you in selecting a trusted processor. If you choose not to take your meat home, we will donate it to a local family or the Augusta food pantry once processing fees have been paid.
